I just finished my 5.3 swap into my 84 regal and im starting to work on the loose ends of my swap. what has anyone done to get the orange "Service Engine soon" light to go out. Right know i put the key in the switch, the light comes on along with the buzzer. the buzzer sound goes off after about 30sec but that light stays on even after i start the car.

Is it hooked up to the new computer??? The light has power whenever the key is on but needs to be grounded to light up. In the malibu's I believe this is a brown wire going to the rear of the instrument cluster.....which would need to be run to the "new" computer. You should hook this to the new computer if you have not already, if you have then....its trying to tell you something.

The ground for the service engine light should be hooked to pin number 46 on your red or green computer connector depending on which year you have. This should be a brown wire with a white tracer on it.
