sold the 6.0

picked up a l33 aluminum HO 5.3, it has the ls6 vette heads on from the factory, 10.1 motor. smaller motor but should be fine on the boost

Pretty soon your going to be the new "5-Door" :D Cant wait for a vid of it in action. Any idea how much weight you lost with the aluminum block?

ive read about 100 lbs, 90 for sure. Ya its a smaller motor, it will probly take me 8psi to make what the 6.0 did on 5psi, but my old motor was just too nice to be beating on, with the ls3 heads...

Yea I think 100 pounds is the norm from a cast LSx to a aluminum block. Should be sweet when you get it together.

no offense... but i feel you took a step backwards... not only from a 6.0 to a 5.3. but also from an iron block to aluminum... seeing as yur running FI

what does block material have to do with anything, its lighter and at my power levels just as strong. i know ill be down HP, but i can always add more boost to even things out...i hope

Ah ok gotcha that was confusing for a second. I can understand the 5.3 though. All of the 5.3's come aluminum now, and for the price people are paying for a solid 6.0 shortblock, if all your going to do is flog on it at the track with some boost, then why not sell the 6.0 and stick with a smaller 5.3. The crank is the same stroke so all your doing is taking away a little cylinder. Which, you can always get worked to a 5.7 safely on the 5.3 block.

that was my main reason, if it blows it will be nice to goto the junkyard and get a $250 replacement.

the ls3 heads were put on mid summer when i changed cams to the z06, ran my fastast time,
