I took my 15 x 8 weld prostars in to get balanced today. A guy at the tire shop I know said that he doesnt think he can get a "true" balance on them because of the floating center mount plate. He said hes done some in the past and can hear that plate rattling when the tire is being spun. I understand his point. But after I thought about it, the plate probably moves only a 1/8" or so in any direction.
So. . .
1 wouldnt that piece be moving such a small amount that it wouldnt really affect the balancing ?
2 the plate is so close to the center of the rim, how much could it really affect ?
3 if its moving freely and independant of the rim itself, wouldnt that have no effect on the balancing ?
Agree or Disagree ?
