I was running my stock rear springs (86 SS Monte Carlo) with Koni 50/50's on the rear, and Lakewood 90/10's on the front. The front end has Moroso SBC trick springs.Got a few 1.47's on motor with the car at the end of last year. Its a iron headed 498,car weighs just shy of 3800lbs with me in it.Ok,my buddy let me try his rear springs, his 50/50 shocks, and his 3 way adjustable front shocks. This is my first time back out with the car this year. His rear springs are 12 inch 200lb coil over springs. The rear shocks are 50/50 & his front 3 way shocks are set at 70/30.Took the car to the track wednesday night & it cut 1.60,1.65,and a 1.59 60ft.Are the front shocks too tight? Are the rear springs too stiff?Trying to figure out where I messed up.The motor makes 670HP at the fly wheel,4.10 gears, turbo 400 foot braking it,13.5x30 ET Streets on it right now....have ran 11.5x29 Hoosiers & 315-60 Hoosier drag radial, all low 1.50's,and even a few 1.47's with the drag radials.Tried a different tire the 13.5x30 because my drag radials are done & I had the ET's here.
Tried 15 lbs in the tires & finally last motor pass had 18lbs in them & it hooked best.
The rims are too narrow this I know, they are 15x8's,but I've used them for 3 years now,so it's less tire contact on the ground, but they are what I own so they'll do for now.
Any ideas??Go back to my stock rear springs?Loosen up the front?
pay no attention to the spray pass, that was my "fun" pass.
