th350 Question

hey guys start off ive got a 79 model turbo 350 it has. it seems something isnt right, it will go in reverse just fine and move but the forward gears it will move but it rivs high to move it does have a stall converter. its gone thru with all new stuff with front pump ect. curse_sign.gif

What could be the problem? i was told it could be the govnor spring?

There could be a number of problems in the transmission. It sounds like you have a large internal fluid leak in the transmission. You could have a cut lip seal, missing pump sealing rings, valves in the valve body that are sticking or assembled incorrectly, etc. The valve body is the simplest place to start, as removal only requires draining the fluid and dropping the pan. If the problem isn't found in the valve body, then you're going to need to remove the transmission for disassembly and inspection. A governor issue will affect the transmission's ability to properly upshift, but it won't cause the problem you're experiencing.
