I searched to see if anyone had posted on this before but I didn't see anything.
This is the second time this has happened so I needed to write about it.
I am installing a 5.3 from a Tahoe in a 79 elcamino.
I used the $50.00 set of adapter plates from Transdapt/Summit with the stock clamshells and motor mounts in the stock V8 location.
With the motor mount bolt in on the passenger side the driver side clamshell sat about .750 high from the motor mount. I had to elongate the holes for the motor mount in the crossmember about .500 and the holes in the clamshells lined up on both sides.
Apparently they have never used a set of these plates themselves or in one of their own projects. All they would need to do is make the plates a little wider to relocate the clamshell mounting holes and everything would line up.
Also, it would cost about .25 cents to make these on a laser including material so you think there would be enough margin in there to make them right.
Thanks guys; just venting...
