i am just wondering what tools are required to tear down one i have a core and want to take a novice adventure thinking tear down and install without new part investment just for experience thanks

Well, there is a special compressor for the pistons and another for the reverse piston that is in the bottom of the housing.

I have the tools, but having said that, you don't HAVE TO have them.

Before I had the tools, I used the following:

For the pistons that are on the shafts, use two or three welding vice grips to compress the piston and get the retainer off.

For the piston in the case, I used a ball peen hammer. How to explain this...hmmm. I took the case, sat it under the tongue of my trailer, put a hammer down in the case with the head of the hammer spanned across the piston in the bottom and lowered the trailer tongue down over the handle of the hammer and let the weight compress it while I took the ring off. Man has to do what man has to do to get the job done. lol

You'll need a thin feeler guage to help get the pistons back in with the new seals. Just be careful to not run the guage leading edge against the seals (or you'll cut them).

Get a good book and read it and look at the pics before you tear into it. They're not hard to rebuild.

thanks for the info i have 2 th350's figured i would practice on one see how it goes then attempt the real deal would like to learn so i dont have to pay and depend on someone else thanks again
