I currently have an 81 El Camino without factory air and I was pondering on installing a Vintage air unit that would take up less space than the factory A/C systems on our vehicles. Has anyone done a Vintage air unit for A/C? If so, what unit did you use and photos would be great?

I also thought about doing the Vintage air trunk mount unit and just installing it in the storage compartment behind the seat in my El Camino and coming up behind the seats.

I have a gen 4 on my car it fits under the dash. I did have to removd the glove box and make a much smaller box in the engine bay.

I read somewhere that gbodyparts.com has developed a few prototypes for an in dash version for Vintage Air. They were only for Regals right now, but did completely remove the air box, they just had what looks like a block off plate with a few hoses for the compressor, etc.

They say they're close to finishing one for the Malibu/El Camino, but I'm sure it will be close to $2500. Call for a quote it says.
