Dreamed that I will be taking the '81 for a spin soon. I'm itching to drive something with some torque!

I welded all the holes in the core support and lowered the bottom of the radiator 1" so the 31"x19" radiator would sit flush with the top of the core support. Also made a radiator hold dowm from .080 aluminum sheet stock. I just cut it out with a jigsaw and bent it with a peice of angle iron c-clamped to the table and a block of wood.

Please post a picture(s) of the bottom of the support after you 'lowered' it. I have to modify mine the same way.

Did that thing have grey interior??? ????

I would like to buy some items if it did and if they are for sale of course

No.....it was 'Medium Blue', but a can of vinyl dye makes them gray! The pieces are for sale:

All pieces in VG to Excellent condition - no chalking or crust!

I auctually already dye'd some interior plastics grey to match my interior i was just looking for some original grey plastics.

here are some pics. I have already mounted the core support since the pics so its knda hard to figure out what i did from the pics but i just cut the bottom of the support flush on both ends. bent 2 peices of 16ga about 3" in width to match the outside form of the support and welded it back together with a 1" gap.

sorry for the pic quality, cell phone pics shrug.gif

you can kinda see in this pic, but i wanted the top of the radiator to sit below the top of the support so i didnt have to worry about the fill neck interferring with my cowl hood. I just radiused a half cirle for the filler neck to come in a bit further towards the front of the car. hope it helps and is not too confusing

let me know if you need any more help

Started it a few times this month and let it run for awhile, and power washed it to show it some love. I have a front transmission seal to fix now....leaks when it sets for a few days straight. ](*,) I guess the engine will need to come out then also to freshen up those seals/gaskets too. 8)

Thanks bustedknuckle for taking the time to shoot those pix.........they do help.
Sometimes you have an idea of what needs to be done, but it helps to actually see it.

Thanks again.
