After removing the floor heater vent, I was able to get the radio out and ready to start on the new one.

All the G-bodies I ever messed with that steel radio mount plate unscrews and you pull the radio out the front, matter of fact I have a modern style removable face plate style AM/FM/CD that has a steel cage sort of thing it slides into in my 78 and the best way I could figure to install it required cutting and welding to mount it into the factory radio mounting plate, first time I ever did that to install a car stereo!!! It's in the secure and slides right out with the magic keys that come with it!! Good Luck, KillerDave
I don't know, I couldn't figure out a way to get it out the front. But I got it out the back. The new one is smaller and will go in easy.
I put the new radio in, but didn't wire it. I'm going to have to hire someone to do that for me. The antenna will need to be wired different than the 1 I took out.
