don't use teflon tape anywhere on the nitrous setup it will clog jets and hang solenoids open that it rule number 1... use teflon paste on all NPT connections nothing on flare... and I have even see people use loctite on the NPT connections but I have never had problems with the liquid teflon...
can you hear it click open or are you just testing with a test light? it's possible also that if fuel sat on the plunger for a long time that it could have swollen and is sticking the solenoid shut...

don't cut the springs at least go with the v6 springs... and I usually loosen my control arms just enough that the bushings aren't bound up....

I have used the steel bushings with teflon liners and they were great no binding and they were loose enough that you could flop the arms up and down with no effort... definately softened the feel and helped transfer...

a 3000 would work better for you IMO... I ran a 3000 for awhile with my 280H and it worked great... but with 3.73's and a 300 stall it won't be fully locked up on the highway if you plan to use it much on the street... makes gas mileage suffer... beleive it or not I got better MPG when I put in...
