I fixed my problem.For some dumb reson,the reman starters come with 11 teeth and the new ones come with 9. I swapped out the reman and got the new one,problem solved.If only I knew this some years ago. A starter cost me a $2000 easy race. Oh well you learn something every day.

It's not stock,Auburn Posi,3.73 gear,ARP bolts,and he's getting moser axles for it.

What flywheel are you using? The teeth on mine get hung up on the flywheel and won't disengage. Mine is a Auto Zone starter with 11 teeth. Part # DL9990s,I have a TCI 168 tooth flywheel for the 400 sbc. The starter has a offset bolt pattern.

I love the decals,but won't they peal off when the caliper warms up?? I was thinking about doing the same swap,but the price is what's killing me.

Try without the solenoid.

That sounds like something in the ignition system.Have you replaced the colum at all? Check to see if there is a break in the ignition wire.Has the car ever had an aftermarket alarm on it? I'm just throwing darts.

How good a battery do you have? Is everything grounded right? You might need a battery with a higher cranking amps.

Sounds like you have you wires mixed up. Check your power wire and make sure its not touching the "s" side of the starter.
