LQ4 in the Monte Carlo SS HELP!!

You'll probably spend close to the same carbed vs. EFI, carbed is just a little easier to install. EFI is better for driveability.

    Lets see some engine pics

Of course #-o I wasn't even paying attention to what was stuck in the valve cover  The flash makes the discoloration around the intake look a bit worse than it is.

What I've been puttin' around with the past year. How is air supposed to even get past that thing?! I'll probably just put a flat-base air cleaner on it and plumb the PCV to that... I think I actually have one sitting up in Michigan. *edit/disclaimer* The extra wiring isn't all my...

    Body Mounts & Ride Height

If both springs are replaced I can't say for sure. If it had the original springs I would just say it's just from age (how often do you drive your car without any passengers?).

    Body Mounts & Ride Height

Have you checked for spring isolators? They can account for a change that small. I'd be leary about changing body mounts... they're not too difficult (just time consuming) if the floorpans/mounts are solid, but if it's rusty I would probably leave it be. I'm sure you're doing this as a budget build and won't spend near that much, but after the research I've done with tuning, looking at parts, etc, this seems like a pretty good price, includes everything for a drop-in setup besides fuel pump upgrade. People say TBI heads suck for power, finally...

I'm keeping a watch on eBay, thirdgen.org, fullsizechevy.com, etc. for roller lifters, still haven't bought a spider, etc. for mine yet. From the looks of things you can probably get a set of used rollers, spider/lifter keepers, retainer plate (bolts to front of the block behind the timing...

    Hood clearance w/truck engine??????

Have you taken a look through the threads for the MR Father/Son project? They put a stock 4.8/4L60E in their 'Bu. I believe it fit without the engine cover, but it was tight. http://maliburacing.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=34

Constant Power Source for Aftermarket Head Unit

Cigarette lighter wire. Most all GM cars use the same circuit for battery power to the radio, including newer ones.
