red wire on alt.... on the clip please help

Is the a heavier (10-12awg) wire that plugs into the alternator? I'm just asking because I'm not positive that's what you're talking about, but if it is, mine has constant 12v.

    Non-pulse to pulse wipers?

No. If I do wind up doing it, it'll probably be over the winter. I need to get a replacement delay switch (think I broke the one on my replacement column while putting the stalk back in), and I don't really know how to change it. I don't see the point in taking it to a column repair place...

    amp gauge

An ammeter would go in series between the alternator and the battery (typically). If you want to monitor the current for a specific item, you can just wire it up for that (say an amp, ignition system, etc.). Heavy gauge wire has to be used, and you don't usually see ammeters anymore. A...

So I'd like to go back to electric fans one day...

But if I do, I'd most likely go the route of the T-Type/GN fans if possible. I've done some searching on their forums, but haven't found much in the way of wiring. GBodyParts has two different sets available, one with an available "replacement adapter," and another with "Caspers hi/low fan...

Scratch your noggin with this one...

The setup ran fine for me, the temp. switch was always there, and when I did have the toggle switch hooked up, it didn't draw enough current to cause the switch to get hot, even warm. Regardless of how that stuff was hooked up, it's disconnected, and I'll be running a clutch fan. Yes, I was...

    battery dies everything checks good

Do you know how much current the box is drawing when the car is off? I know typically alternators usually kick in between 1000 and 1500, but that still wouldn't be an excuse for the battery takin' a dump. How long does the car sit before the battery is too discharged to start the car?

    Wiring an Electric Choke? Help!?!?!

So long as it's ignition-switched I'm guessing it'll be alright.

    Wiring an Electric Choke? Help!?!?!

You should be able to pigtail it off the wire that runs to the oil pressure switch, at least according to the wiring diagram for the car.

Scratch your noggin with this one...

Well, the kicker is I removed the relay altogether thinking that's what it might have been, and installed a toggle switch, running power to the battery post instead of the post on the alternator (battery post -> switch -> thermal switch -> fan). It worked fine for me heading to work and home...

    brake and gauge wiring

If I remember right and the gray wire is for illumination, it will have power when the parking lights/headlights are on, and you turn the light intensity up & down by turning the headlight knob like most other cars. You might almost be better off getting an interior harness from another G-Body...

    brake and gauge wiring

Well, I'm using the factory SS cluster. What do you mean bunged up? Not copper inside? I'm a little lost here. there's a normally closed momentary switch that the brake pedal presses on, and there's a 2-terminal plug there for the taillights. What are you trying to do in that area? Has...

    brake and gauge wiring

Lights... as in illumination for the gauges? I believe the wire for that is gray, and I would use the original intended wire for the gauges (pink, goes right up to the original cluster, same with the gray too). Are you trying to wire in a 3rd brake light too?

Dash harness interchange, '81 to '85ish+

To make things easier in the long run, I've been contemplating just changing the entire dash harness because I don't like cutting the wiring in places like under the dash for factory pieces (read: column wiring). I put in a column with wiper controls on the stalk, and the harness connection is...

80 Malibu Brake Issues - Help

X2 on the leak. My leak was as the line just started to curve up to follow the frame in front of the axle, about even with the rear seat I believe.

So I had an alternator die on me recently. Replaced it on Monday, and I've been having issues ever since. At first I fried a reman. alternator without even knowing it. The 2nd one I had a strong feeling something was wrong. I finally tracked it down to something with the electric fan...

    Replacing stalk mounted wiper switch...

How difficult is it? I think I ruined the one in my replacement column, but I don't have the time to wait to see how to replace it as I had to change over from the broken column, and it's my daily driver right now. Has anyone changed this switch? I looked at it to the best of my ability after...

    Dome light dealy circuit?

In looking at the wiring diagrams in the tech section, I see a setup for courtesy light delay. What cars were these available in? I wouldn't mind wiring one up in mine. I'll even look into an aftermarket one so long as it doesn't require an extravagant wiring job.

    LS1 swap info?

Here's hoping it sticks... I'll start... hoping everyone else who has info will contribute. I see part numbers here and there, and see people mention of something that will work, but usually it's in the middle of a thread. The links I've listed so far are just from Summit, but I'm sure there...
