I think this would be best for what you currently have, given the weight of the truck:

That, and the heads seem to be a little big imo, unless you're racing it. You could probably go down to 190cc and be safe, possibly even keep the cam you have.

What do you want to do with the truck??? Too heavy - that convertor is small and and be a miss-match for more cam.
i do little of everything. it weighs 5600lb wiht me and full tank of gas. i tow, DD, race, off road etc
this is one of those things i have done.

i agree the convetor is on the small side of the range bout the smallest one can run with my current camshaft without idle in gear issues... cruising room between 55-70mph is 2500-3200rpm 4.10 with 33" tires

190-200cc head would be better then the 215 i have right now.. it would def help low range droping both runner size and valve size.. mabey even pick up idle vaccum.. dont really want to dump then money into another set of heads

plus how many people are runnign 200cc+ heads? thats 383+ size SBC

I understand on the buying new heads thing. For multipurpose I think either of the smaller 2 cams are best... kind of stuck far as the heads go for now (bit of a mismatch to the smaller cams), but those are easier to change than a cam & could be done later.

Quite honestly with what you want to do I would start back stepping a little. Because your towing I wouldn't put any more convertor in it, if it is bringing the engine down at idle it isn't soft enough on the bottom. Doober has the right idea on the heads, I have learned that runner volicity is where it's at and bigger isn't better unless your spinning the crap out of it. You have a lot of wieght and you need torque to get it going - bottom end torque. I hope you are running a dual plane intake and I would look at a combo that will work on the bottom.
