If I go to a 5 1/2 inch backspace on a 10 inch wheel would these tires tuck under the fenderwells of an 87 El Camino? I was running them on a 10 inch wheel with a different backspace (real deep dish) but the inner fender was cutting into the tire. I went to a 275/60, but that just does not look good to me. They are just too tall looking for me. I dont like having the air shocks all the way up, as it puts the nose down, and the wieght transfer as well as the handling sucks.

That's what backspace I run on my 10 inch wheels, you will have to notch the frame. If you don't want to do that, I'd look into going to an 8 inch wheel. You could run 3.5 backspace and roll the lip, or go to 4.5 backspace and you will probably need to run a 1/2 spacer to keep them off the frame. Keep us posted.

?????? Is your rear end still factory Gbody. If so 8" wide wheel with 4-4.25" backspacing. 295/50-15 will fit really well but roll the lip. In my experience a 3.5" backspacing wheel will make the tire hit the fenderlip even with a smaller 275/50-15.

This is 295/50-15 on Vette rallye wheel 8" wide 4" backspace. Sorry the pic sucks but you get the idea.

So are you running a spacer? Did you roll the lip on yours as well?

No spacers but i did roll the lip.

but thats with a 4 inch bs., and 3.5 inch backspace is too little. 15x8 with a 3.75 bs will accomadate a 29.5x10.5-15 mtslick with nothing more than a rolled fender.
