I have a 383 with 9.3 to 1 ompression aluminum trickflow 23 degree heads and full roller valvetrain....the motor was built with attentions of installing a 174 roots-type blower...With the compression ration and set-up i have now ould i step-up to a 6-71 or even the 256 roots style and run pump gas 92 octane? Or possibly a vortec step-up? Trying to get some feed back on each set-up also...Engine is going into a 88 monte carlo ss
You will not be able to run much boost with a roots style blower and 9.3 compression on pump gas. I would go with a centrifical like procharger or vortec. The centrifical will allow you to run more boost with your setup.
