OK to start this off i am by no means a transmission guy. So if i sound cluless then its because i am!
My father (car genius) passed away almost two years ago and his truck had some tanny issues (wore out). His truck is a 1974 Chevy LWB with a built 355 mated to a 700R4 w/OD. The issue is that the transmission was rebuilt by a transmission shop and it wont kick into passing gear when floored now. I think i know why but have no idea if I have to buy a certain year kickdown cable. The current kickdown cable is from his TH350 that was in there before it was swapped for the 700R4 (80's IROC). I recall my dad having a horrible time getting it to shift right and kick into passing gear when floored (too cheap to buy another cable I suppose). So im not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree or if I am on the right track. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!
