the UCA is not my biggest concern now, rather the position of the diff on the 8.8, nothing to worry about?

Little update, 10 bolt is out, and it seems that the diff is not in the middle there either, its 4cm towards the passenger side

so the difference between the 8.8 and 10 bolt is 6cm, not to bad, next is to put the 8.8. under on jackstands and see how the driveshafts lines up.

I put the 8.8. on jackstands and connected the driveshaft, it look alright, so now both housings are in sandblasting then the cut off and welding of the UCA brakkets begins. I´ll update how it looks and goes

Just to close this thread, I opened the 8.8 ford and there i saw i air locker, i have nothing to do with that so i returned the thing.

Now have a 9 inch ford out of 74 bronco. Here in Iceland i talked to several guys, and it seems that the 9 inch has many advantages over the 8.8 one of them ofcourse being that its simpler to weld brackets on, and other things like its easier to tune in a new gear, and if wheel bearings go bad, it often destroys the axles, but not in the 9 inch. although the 8.8 and 9 are similar in size it seems that the tooth´s on the 9 inch are shaped so they can handle more force.

I don´t know, but i´m happy to have the top gun in my garage.

Tomas

p.s. i´ll maybe post pics when done.

Just save the money, time & effort... Get a 9". LOADS of people make direct bolt-ins & they're better than an 8.8....

I got my 9 inch from the shop today.

Now I cant bolt my old rims onto the 9 inch, any ideas how to change the bolt pattern, or just buy rims with the 9 inch pattern?

cheers from Iceland
Tómas

Ok so i answer myself, 74 bronco has 5x5.55" bolt pattern and 79 malibu has 5x4.75"

A spacer is the best option but it widens the axle about 1 or 2 inches per wheel (dont think it matters).
