Air pressure

Ok, I run M/T ET Streets on my Cutlass (3700 lb. with me) whats a good tire pressure to race with. I just can't seem to get this thing to hook up right. My 60 ft. stinks and are very inconsistant. People tell me that 14-15 lbs. is way too low for this car. They say I should run upwards of 18lbs.. Could this be right?

I am not sure about the ET streets but I am running a footbrake 79 Malibu in the neighborhood of 3000lbs. I am running 11.70's (7.40's in 1/8th) on Pheonix slicks with 16-18 ponds air pressure in the rears. My 60' times have been as good as 1.65.
