Balancer or Hub for Centrifugal Blower App???

Been searching the 'net and getting conflicting ideas on if a balancer is needed on a blown engine. Some folks say that you need the balancer to control the blower harmonics. Others say that the beltdrive dampens the harmonics and that the extra weight of the balancer puts undue stress on the crank snout.

Anyone here have real-world experience here?
 
i never have run a balancer on any blown motor, just a crank hub, now i never drove a blown engine 50,000 miles, but i have put 5k miles a year on a blown motor with just a hub with no ill affect

No issues with bearing wear?

im running an external balancer on my 489 871 blower motor (815HP)
