I usually do a 1-2 gear burnout, but was told that's no good for a turbo 400 and I should do a 1-2-3 gear burnout. What's the story here? Was told that 2nd gear is a weak link coming out of the burnout box. Thanks

i read in super chevy/chevy performance that you should do a 1st 2nd burn out, and you should not be hard on it in first, to just get the rpm's up in 1st to shift to 2nd to do the burnout in 2nd gear.

always 2-3 in most three speed autos,if you have to use first take it easy on the rpm's until you get it into second then let it fly.

What about a 700R4?? I usually start in first then let it shift to second about 3000-3500 easy on rpms... Then hold second at about 4000-4500 and roll out till the slicks bite... Should I let it get into third for my burnouts?

That is exactly what my trans builder said. He also added if you have enough power just light it right up in 3rd gear.

ha ha ha  Dont beleive everything you ear !! If you have a proprely prepared trany, it does not mater in what gear you are . transmission-wise, a stock transmision as a slow down band that is aplied in 1rst gear. But most of you guys have built transmission that had their band discared ,so does not mather. For stock transmission, first gear for sure. For all other, what ever you need for the right burnout !
