car breaks up at 3 grand then dies

bbc timing set at 38 motor runs fine until its rev to 3 grand. then it breaks up slowly dies and tac revs in the other direction. msd distr/ msd 6al/ msd blaster 2. chip is 6600. help

My bet is either the MSD or the chip is bad. Pull the chip out and try it. Or see if you can borrow another MSD and swap it.

gap on plugs too wide? plug wires going bad also?

It won't recover?

I once had a bad coil and the symptom was breaking up at 3000 rpm. It ran fine below 3000.

sorry for long delay. sent the msd to shop its bad had to be repaired.

unhook the tach. and try it...took me forever to find this problem, it was a bad tach,, just maybe, cost nothing to try it.
