Car stalls when I put it in Drive.

When I start my car up when its been sitting for a while and I put it in drive (or reverse) it stalls. What could this be?

I also (still) have problems pressing the throttle the first 10 mins I drive the car, where it starts bogging down like its going to shut off. I dno if that may help diagnose the problem or not.

Is this a new problem? I know you had a prior thread about the choke and were advised to adjust the choke to a leaner position. If you did adjust the choke, that would contribute to the problem of stalling before it is warm.

I haven't been able to mess with the car yet and I'm still not sure how to adjust the choke. If I move it up or down (opened or closed) it just springs back to where it was.

I was probably told how to do it in one of the other threads so I'll look those over again.

But I haven't adjusted the choke, I put in a new pos battery terminal because the other wasn't giving good contact and I also added a new distributor coil. This is a 229 btw.

sounds like timing it can do some weird stuff.
