driveshaft length for 8.5

i am putting a a body 10 bolt in my monte with a th350 does anyone know how much shorter it needs to be it is 52 3/4 " now please reply if you knwo how much shorter it needs to be thanks jeremy

when I did my Monte I don't think there was a difference

I did the same thing about 18 years ago. 1981 monte with a mid 70's 8.5 from a monte rear. Not sure on the measurment, but it was shorter. just measure and have one cut down and rebalanced.

should be 1" shorter just like the GN/442 8.5" rearends.
I used a 1977 Grnad Prix rear and it was 1" shorter

I'm not sure about any differences in lengths of turbo 350 transmissions, or what your car originally had, but an 8.5 rear should call for knocking one inch off a stock driveshaft.

I grabbed a driveshaft from a mid 70's Camaro for my T5 and 8.5 rear. $20 well spent.
