Not sure really, I've heard a lot of good things about the new SHP blocks though. 4.125 bore and a 350 main makes for some killer combos.

Here are some good links on the Dart SHP blocks

I ran a stock 2-bolt block for three season . In my cutlas that dynoed 713hp @ 7600rpm it would see 7400 on the shift and again at the finish line.. after three seasons it was retired because of the loose bore... and then put on the street at 40 over..... But It was machined to very strict tolrences and everything was perfectly balanced and done right.... I did nothing to streagthen the block other then putting plugs in the deck and studded everything ....

My 434 is out of a late model roundy round, and has seen 7700 rpm too many times, but now I don't feel so bad doing it after the splayed 4 bolt mains. Once the funds become avaible I will be switching everything over to my little M block, and rebuilding the 509 block to a milder 406 for a S 10 that I have sitting around.

when you plug the deck, are they welded in or tapped in?

You thread them in then deck the block...
