Front driveshaft loop issues

I'm using a "tubular" front drive shaft loop that replaces the factory cross bar in my 78 wagon. It's been in the car for about a year using an M20 muncie with out any problems (but WAS close to the 1350 yoke). Just changed to an "AutoGear" case muncie M22 with all the heavy duty stuff making the transmission about 1/2 inch longer and raises the yke height just slightly.

I now have a rubbing noise during hard launches for a just a moment. I could go to a flat bar type driveshaft loop but would rather move the transmission lower about a 1/4 inch using different rear mount. Looked around a little but can't seem to find any different mounts as far as height goes. I'm using hard rubber mounts all the way around.

Anybody know if different mounts or should I just change the front loop?

Hey, You could shim the front loop. I had a 79 Malibu with a th350 with a six inch tail shaft and it would do the same thing, I bought a new trans mount and it fixed the problem. Doug

I think I've found a solution with TNT products. They now make a loop with an extension for long tail shaft transmissions. I guess there isn't a problem that money can't cure (...as far as fixing cars goes, that is). Thanks, Rob.

Looks like I'll have another item on the table at the next swap meet. Just ordered the new one from tnt. Thanks Guys...sometimes just putting thoughts on the website helps. Rob
