I found by assisting the crossmember up with the floor jack, I was able to "adjust" the floor enough to get my crossmember in after I notched it. A 5 lb hammer gently helped it along as well. Just little taps.

bringing this back from the archives....i FINALLY got around to trying to fit this in the car this weekend. i took out the heat sheild that was on the passenger side floor and used a floor jack to push the x member up the extra 1/8" it needed to get up on the frame. fit no problem!! after wards, i didn't even need a hammer to move it forward or backward, i could do it by hand (side to side was a different story). i must say that this upgrade is worth the $$$. i bolted a set of race bullets right to the headers and there are no clearance issues at all!!

sorry...i'm just pumped that it fit!

my g-force member was in the body as well untill I replaced the body bushings..now I got about a half inch from the top of the exhaust cut-outs to the floor with the transmission's wieght on the member. They are much better than the factory member notched. Ties the frame together well and stiffens up the chassis a little bit. All around good investment.

I've had discussions with guys about this before. They say that my G-Force crossmember is too heavy. It is heavy, but my argument is that it doesn't just hold the transmission up. I think that it becomes a structural member and for sure ties the frame together. So what do you guys think? No disrespect to Iceman or other fabricators but I just think the G-Force is stronger. I'd love to get that weight out of my car, so someone please convince me that I'm wrong. Lee

I said this somewhere else as well. ICEMAN used to make crossmembers nearly identical to the the g-force ones before Summit took them over. He was basically forced to stop from what I understand. I wonder if he would make one on request.... I would much rather have given him my money than Summit when I ordered mine but I was home on R&R from Iraq and time was of the essence. ICEMAN makes great stuff and is a sponsor of the site (see above 8) ). I still want to try his light weight member just because I know he makes awesome stuff.

I think the beefy crossmember stiffens the chassis up a bit. No way to actually prove that. I can't imagine bolting a hefty chuck of iron like that in between the frame rails doing anything else though...
