That's exactly how the "old" caps work, but unfortunately there is no such thing for a G-body or any other emissions era car...

I agree. I've kept my eyes open for one for quite awhile with no luck.
I just stuck a small piece of 3/8" fuel line on the end of the vent tube right above the rear axle and put a plastic cheapie fuel filter on it to filter any dirt or bugs that may try to get in the tube. I don't drive the car in the rain or on real dusty roads so I am fine with it.
The only downside I see to my setup is- If the car were to roll over and land on it's roof, I
think gas would just run out of it. I've never had the car upside down so I don't know for sure.
