I HAVE A 80 MALI. IM LOOKING TO CONVERT FROM THE COLUMN SHIFT AUTOMATIC TO THE CENTER CONSOLE FLOOR SHIFT AUTO MATIC. WHAT MODS WOULD I HAVE TO MAKE
First you need a floor shirt trans bracket, cable and shifter.You will need to drill a hole for the shifting cable to go though the center floor board.B&M and Hurst offer great racket shirters or you could go with the stock console and shifter . I have both and like ether one.

when you put in your shifter. anchor your column so it wont rotate from park position. if it does, it will think that it is in another gear, (other than park or neutral). it will not let you crank your engine over. also, find the park, neutral start wire and cut and wire it to your new shifter, (don't need any reverse, drive engine starts).

i like the shifter after i got used to it. you have to lift it out of park and pull back to reverse, (or over it), then to neutral. then you press down, (i kinda slam it), and pull back to drive. pull it back again and it ratchets back to 2nd. pull it back again and it ratchets to 1st. now it is in ratchet mode, forward shift to drive. beware, there is no reverse lockout. this is so you can neutral your transmission through the traps.

sorry misspoke myself.... there is a reverse lockout, there is no neutral lockout. so if you lose count on your shifts the last one is neutral.
You could ak here at maliburacing to see if somone has a factory console with shifter.You could also look at summitracing .com or jegs.com for a universal shifter from B&M or Hurst. I have the B&M megashifter (summit 130-80690) and love it.
