zero offset means a centered backspace. in other words, an 8" wide wheel with 4" backspace has no offset, so it's zero offset. an 8" rim with 3" backspace has 1" negative offset, & an 8" rim with 5" backspace has 1" positive offset, and so on. i hope this makes sense.
