Looking to upgrade my center section. Currently has stock center w/4:56 gears and spool. My motor is pushing 600hp plus a possible 300 shot of NOS. I don't trust the tock unit or the stock axles. The center is still new as are the axles. I want to upgrade before I develop a problem once I get the car running.
Looking for a nodular unit. Not sure if I should do iron or aluminum.

Second upgrade question:
When I was starting the build I was living around nothing but 1/8 mile tracks so I went with a 4:56 gear. I have since move to Colorado and they all look at me funny when I ask if there is an 1/8 mile track. So I will need to cut that gear down. Was thinking either 3.89 or 4.11. Car has a 4200 stall

With 600 HP you might want to think about upgrading to 35 spline axles. There are 2 choices with the 35 spline axles. There is a Detroit Locker and a Wavetrac. The locker is good and will probably hold up fine, but the Wavetrac has been tested to 1200 HP and it's stronger, and smoother, but also about $400 more. I would use a nodular case.

For sure looking into nodular case and 35 spline axles. Not sure on the aluminum case or iron. I'm aware of Strange, Moser, Mark Williams and Yukon. Any others of ones to stay away from. Brand of axles?

Bracing the housing might be a good idea. 35 spline a must, keep the spool if you like it. I would definitely use a good nodular case. 5/8 wheel studs too. Call the guys at Quick Performance. They know what they're talking about and will be glad to help.

The gear sounds about right for the nitrous, 3.89-4.11. Will probably have to restall your converter too.

It's a QP setup. I picked it up from someone needing cash, still new and cheap

I think you misunderstand what nodular is. Nodular is a type of iron. Nodular iron is stronger than gray iron. So you have a nodular iron case or aluminum case. I recommend the nodular iron case.
