Has anyone used a 17" drag radial yet? I was wondering how their performance is compared to a 15" drag radial. I'd appreciate any info or suggestions on this one. Thanks!

I don't mean to jack your thread, but if anyone has used it, what backspace wheel did you use and how well did the tire fit under the car? I'm thinking of doing the same thing with some of those cheap black cragar wheels.

For serious racing a racing tire with a talller sidewall would be more ideal. I have drag radials on my 16's but I never concidered drag radials for my 17's.

i have 275-40-17's nitto drag radials on my 78 monte with a 4.5" backspace, the big reason for 17"s for me is that i have to run 17" wheels up front to clear my brakes, and it would look dumb to have 17" wheels in front and 15" wheels in the back :?

I'm curious how the 275/40/17 Drag Radials handle and hook. I need more traction but don't want to completely give up the handling of my BFG KD tires.

How do you like your KD's? I've got a set on my Camaro and seem to light up real easy, even when I'm not trying. Here's a link of me doing a burnout. I didn't even need to hit the line lock. I've always got to be light on the gas when going around turns, even big sweepers.

BTW,
I just lowered the back by 2 1/2" It looks awesome now.

Check the F-body forums. This size is very common on 4th gens so there are several sets attempting to hook up on modded LS1 cars.

I like them but need a stickier tire. Like you, handles well but breaks loose easily under power in turns. It's sent me sideways a few times but was recoverable. If the auto transmission downshifts, it can break loose in a straight line up to about 55mph. Need to play with my downshift speeds. Could use 3.23's instead of 3.73's, too.

I'm leaning towards the Hoosier Drag radial or MT ET Radial.

I had that problem on my Camaro, a pair of Nitto drags solved it. They're great on the street, but I use Hoosier QTPs at the track. I use the Nittos on my daily driver Impala SS too. They're the only drag radial I'll drive in the rain.
