my motor is in machine shop now ,its a 406 with probe ft pistons ,forged rods,and a new cast crank . the rotating assembly is balanced. heads are older dart 200 cc pro 1 alum. compression should be around 10.5/11.0 . 800 holley dp .i am thinking of running the lunati voodo 284 cam hydralic ground on small bc. what converter should i use? i have 4.11 gears with 28./11.5 ets. what est on hp .

i would say close to 400hp at the flywheel maybe a little more. with that cam i would run at least a 3500 stall. is it a street car if not i would run more stall. call jw they can tell you exactly what you need.
i was hoping for more in the 470/490 range . my friends motor makes @470 with less comp,and less lift on cam .he even has 993 aero head stock replacement heads with some port and bowl work.it is also a 406. not that mine will be any better than his,just thought it would at least be comperable.
That combo would be good for 450+ hp at the fly.

IMHO, any hydraulic cam is limited to about 6000 rpms where they go into float unless extreme measures are taken for maybe 500 more. Hp is going to limited by displacement and compression ratio when rpms are restricted.
Hydraulic lifters are spinning higher than 6k these days. And it's the lifters collapsing, not valve float. I would think that motor EASILY makes 450+ at the flexplate. I would go for at least a 3500 stall.
