need help with msd 6014 timing

hi im new to this ls motor i have a 80 chevy malibu i just put a 416 ls stroker with 799 fully ported heads 11-1 comp pump gas motor 58t crank and the cam sensor in front of the timing cover when cranking it to fire it up it pops thru the carb and thru the exhaust the i called msd and told them i have the 6014 box and the guy wasnt helpful im trying get it running dont know to much about the timing adjustment ive been reading on some of the comments here and i was trying to adjust it and i also checked my grounds and all the connections cause before the big motor i had a 5.3 ls truck motor with a carb and had no problem firing it up any ideas or helpful comments will appreciate thanks

I have no experience, but are you using the same ecu map from the 5.3 as a base map?

The symptom sounds like the ignition is not firing at the right time. Do both engines have the same number of teeth on the crank sensor? I remember a video where that was a problem.

Ok thanks I ordered a new set of coil wire extensions cause the ones I got from Amazon the wiring doesn’t match up with the coil wiring so I got a new set from painless wiring and hopefully this will work
