Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap12-04-09 Updated

I just picked up another LQ4 Block --- Got small amount of miles, we may just throw it into the Bu with a set of good LS6 heads and LS6 Intake as we were in the beginning to get some seat time on the car and then build a nice 408 stroker in the near future.

Soon some pictures of the New Motor.

Accessories are from Pace Performance Parts. Corvette w/o A/C and it included Brackets, pulleys, belt, alternator, pump.

F-Body won't work on iron block as it needs lower bolt holes which exist on aluminum blocks not iron blocks.

Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap 09-20-2010 update

Ralph what all was done to the car when you dipped into the 11's?

Ours is somewhat similar, mine is a stock LQ4 shortblock, Katech rod bolts, ARP head bolts, TSP CNC 243's, TR224 112LSA cam, 1-7/8 LT's, 3.73 gear w/ Trutrac.

I was hoping to maybe break 12's but now you got my ears perked up haha.

Were you able to get back to the track with the setup you have now?

Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap 09-20-2010 update

Well if you have a LQ4 Block the piston should shoulder instead of being flattop. THe LQ9 Flattop pistons 10.0 comp vs. 9.5 with LQ4 pistons.

We took completely stock LQ9 Block, swap musclecar pan on it, Stock set of LS6 Heads, Stock LS6 Intake slide a Comp Cams under .590 lift and some upgraded valve springs, 42 lb injectors, walbro 340 pump, -8 lines with billet rails, TCI 4L60E with 3,000 stall, 8.5 Rear with 3.73 Detroit locker. Custom From Matt @ Tune Time Performance which made 400 HP to the wheels. (oh yea with 1 3/4 headers shorty style ) Now we got 1 7/8 but never got to a track!

We scaled my car and it weighed in 3300 with me in the car.

With aftermarket heads and the wrong cam which is why my sh*t blew up and is sitting in the garage.

We are getting ready to put it back together, just need my cam and valve springs and it will be running in a month or So.
