Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap(MORE PICS)

Well its been really hot and humid, so its not that easy to work on the car with sweat running all over ya.

Everything is pretty much in the car, got some wiring to finish between ecm and dash wiring harness, also some wiring to finish between fuse panel and engine, and the fuel sender and power wire to fuel pump.

Not in a huge rush now, money been tight last few months and if i do get it done, still needs exhaust, floor pans to be installed, roll cage, carpeting, and also got new console from a F-Body going in to it.

RAlph

I will update by next week with more photos.

Ralph, I have a few more questions....The harmonic balancer, are they all the same? I'm trying to finish off the camaro accesorries and need to grab a water pump, but am still wondering whether or not to get the balancer. Second question is for the part on teh top passenger side front...just guessing that this is the fuel pressure regulator? If so I guess I'm goign to have to get one to run the FAST 90 mm intake/tb...damned the money it costs for this stuff..

Yea that is why i am using the stock LS6 intake couldn't afford to do the fast at this time, yea you will need press reg and the fittings and the rails, i would just buy the fast ones they fit the best. Summit sell them too.

The balancer must be a camaro balancer to fit the access bracket offset, you can also use a underdrive pulley which is what i got for the corvette set-up from SLP. 15-20 hp on the dyno.

Thanks ralph, that has been my big question as I've been sitting here trying to get the water pump and everything else done. Someday it'll be done, until then...we can always hope right...

Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap(MORE PICS)

all the main stuff is done. Once its running then before i drive it, we gotta get the body mounts fixed, new floor plans installed, 8 pt cage installed, and 5 pt harnesses mounted.

So it will be pretty bad @#$ and will be able to drive anywhere and do anything but unitl then its just money.

Re: NEW Project 1978 Malibu LQ9/4L65 Swap(MORE PICS)

Well we are getting a little further, she is pretty much ready to fire up, except for some little odds and ends with the wiring, wanna make sure everything is right and neatly wired before it heads to the fab shop for the floor pan and cage install.

We finally got all the Non-Ac Heater ducts, and controls, installed today. Installing Digital Dash today, gotta still wire the control box, got a 2002 Trans Am 6spd console that will be installed with center console e-brake set-up. We will run a bar out of the boot for the shifter and mount the bandit shifter on that bar so it is at the perfect height for shifting.
