If you poured gas right into the carb, you should have some kind of life. Backfire, cough, something. You had mentioned the rockers earlier. Did you adjust them in any way?

I didnt touch the rockers. The only thing I noticed was the fuel pump pushrod doesnt move when i turn the crank. I still figured there should at least be some action with a little gas in the carb. I just bought a brand new 750 Holley D.P. . Well I got a multimeter coming in with another huge order tomorrow from Summit, so hopefully I can get to the bottom of this soon.
Like I said earlier...take your time you'll get it. The Comp Cam should be fine w/ the mechanical fuel pump. Was the motor running before the cam swap?
Yes sir. Running like a champ. Thats until I figured out I needed a new timing chain. Thats when I figured I had balls enough to do this all on my own. It was really only the start of hell. But hey, it is what it is, Im sure I'll get it soon.
Are you sure you have the fuel lines right on the pump? and when you say new carb, is it brand new? did you check the float level while the carb was off? try taking a needle and putting gas in the carb through the site glass that way and see if that helps any. Whats the gap on your plugs? for HEI should be about .045, do you have another pump to try?
Brand spankin' new. Like 2 days old out of the box. I tried 2 mech. f.p.'s I got from Summit. but like i said the fuel pump pushrod isnt moving when I turn the engine. I was planning on going electric soon anyway. I just ordered the whole shibang.
The fuel pump rod doesn't move very much and it's take quite a bit of time to get the fuel up there and fill the new bowls like bowtie81 said.
It sounds very redneck, but I couldn't get mine to prime one time after it sat for quite a while. I took the line off the carb, and applied suction until I had gas coming out of the line. After that it fired right up.
