I need to get my rearend fixed and was thinking of changing gears I have 3.73's in it now and was thinking of going with 4.10's but I don't know if it will make a differance in my e.t.'s. I'm running a 427 w/10.25 comp., rpm intake, 850 demon, lunati cam w/ 232/239@ 50, .549/.558 lift, th350 w/street fighter stall. the best I've run so far is 12.17@109 any help you guys can give would be great thanks

that a 427 bbc or sbc? There isn't much of a difference in feel between 3.73 and 4.10. I'd stay with what you got unless the gears are damaged then go with 4.10's

I went from 3.73's wit a 255/60 rear tire to 4.10's with a 275/60 rear tire, Not much difference in track performance. The only improvement was my 60' times. they improved about 1/2 a tenth. Hardly worth the money. Not an expert but i think you will probably pick up a better E.T. and trap speed with your BB and 4.10's. Just my 2C's Good luck!!

I just put 4.10's in place of my 3.73's this weekend(long story) and after TnT Sunday determined...no real difference. Your RPM intake is going to do better below 5000 than a single plane. Above 5000 it will do worse. Steeper gears will naturally push you higher in the rpm range where the intake is not as efficient.

easiest way to pick up some time is put a little bigger converter in it.

Anytime you pick-up 60foot YOU SHOULD get better ET down the track...IF you do not then you do not have enough cam to do the job or you have restrictions for the motor to rev.

Gears will all depend on your engine capabilities as if it will help or not.

For the 1/8 mile pretty much more gear will always add up to less ET period. Your only going half track so most will never run out of gear to get there.

Be careful with stall if you running the car on the street and or highway. The car will become less and less street able with more stall. (meaning it will be less crisp throttle response and stall goes up.) Transition will suffer...IT will be a FULL gas or sloppy feel car.

I would say any thing over 3000 for the street will not be very good for regular driving. BUT if all you do is go to cruise ins and do burn outs all the time you will love it.

They say gearing for racing you should try to fit the largest diameter tire with the most gear to get the trap speed you need. NOT so sure I agree with this but that is what they have said for years. BUT with turbos and chargers etc. and new slick technology that may be a outdated phrase. JIm
