I have a 1980 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 700 R4 transmission and or TCI Saturday Night Special torque converter 2,000 RPM stall with stock 241 gears in the rearend or 2 Series gears the car drived and shift fine driving in normal operation but if you stomp on it from a standstill it will pull and second to third shift would be like a delay and hesitate and the transmission will act like it's slipping if you're going uphill with some pressure on it and you can feel it in the rear tire chirping and slip, is this the stall converter or the transmission, the transmission shifts fine on the normal operation thanks

Of course the transmission is slipping. You are running a 2000 rpm stall converter with stock 2.41:1 gears? Why would you do that? There is not enough mechanical advantage in the rear axle to take advantage of the higher stall. You are creating excess heat in the trans, and it won't last too long. Change the rear gears to 3:42 or higher, or put a stock stall converter back in the transmission.
, yeah I figured the transmission is just shot after I pulled up the pan and there is a lot of black and gray stuff in it so I'm just going to get a rebuilt transmission
Don't use that converter! You are going to burn up another transmission. That black and grey stuff you saw was your clutch material. Think of it in terms of comparing your automatic to a manual transmission. You have a numerically low gear (2.41) and a high stall converter, designed to give you greater mechanical advantage off the line. But...your car isn't setup for quick acceleration with the mild gear. Think of having a manual trans car in 3rd gear at a stoplight. This would be similar to your current setup. You need to rev the engine up, and slip the clutch just to get the car moving. (like having a high stall converter) You can do it, but you will ruin the clutch. Matching the cam to the converter has NOTHING to do with your combination UNLESS you FIRST match the rear gears to the converter. Put in deeper gears (numerically higher) and you will be fine! (Well, after a trans rebuild)....A good SBC with a TH700R4 with a 2600 stall and 3.42 or 3.73 gears is a ROCKET off the line.
So don't use the 1600 stall converter with the 241 gears,a stock converter is like 1300 rpm? THANKS
