Hey guys, I have a little issue here. It could be dangerous. I have a 78 malibu with hooker supercomps and when I give it some throttle. The upper steering shaft pinch bolt binds just when I turn left. I have new motor mount installed when I dropped the engine in. I used to have a 86 Monte SS and the pinch bolt threads are in the shaft (I had the same engine in the Monte as I have now). So I never had this problem before. Unlike my car being a 78, It has nut and bolt. I tried grinding the nut down a little and it helped a somewhat but I still have the issue. Does anybody have any suggestions? If so thank you :D

Dimple the header tube? Or run solid mounts. . . I never heard of that happening before, though. Could something be out of whack?

My 78 did the same thing,The only way i got it to stop was dimplle the header

I kinda don't want dimple the primary because it is ceramic coated. But then again, it's scratched from the pinch bolt anyways

I have super comps on my car and ran into the same issue. I simply put a dimple in it so it would clear. I am running solid mounts also. When it comes to cutting on steering parts for clearence i wont dare go there, id much rather have a dimple in the header tube then take a chance on something breaking or coming loose on the steering.
