I have a 78 malibu with a 383 forge steel setup not sure of the cam specs but it's 11.2 to 1 compression with trick flow 64cnc heads 195 runners full roller setup. I had a th350 trans in it with a 9inch rear 410 gears and a 275/6015 et street tires. My trans just blew I was weighting my opinions on which setup to go with. I have a full built pro street th400 with a trans brake already in my garage, I was wondering if anyone had any luck with the 4 speed transmissions? The car has seen a lot of track and I beat on it pretty go but I also street cruise having the extra gear would be great! I have a nitroious setup ready to go so it would need to handle some power.. Any suggestions?

use the turbo 400, add a GV if you want OD. Or maybe a 4L80E with the trans go manual shift kit. Spending much money on a turbo 350 isn't a good idea. They are on borrowed time at 600 plus hp.

I vote 4L80, but they're a bit pricey compared to a 400... Most used ones around here are $600+, plus the cost of a controller. On the upside if you can burn chips you can control one with a factory GM computer and program it to shift where you want.
