I was wondering what I could expect for an exhaust sound from my v6. Its a 1980 Pontiac Grand LeMans, all stock. Just gonna toss on a muffler or something, or whatever you guys suggest. What would make a nice quick, cheap and easy install and sound good? Any sound clips would be cool. Thanks.

edit: I believe its the 231 buick v6 (from wikipedia). Is there a way to get the size from the car?

I don't think you'll get the sound you want from the V6, at least not with the semi-odd Chevy V6. Can't say what the Buick V6 will give you.

Easiest way to tell the Buick from the Chevy 3.8L will be distributor placement. Chevy is rear, Buick is front. Looks like both engines were available for that car in '80, but the Buick was only for CA cars.

I ran 2 1/4 aluminized true duals with turbo mufflers out to the bumper on a 79 Malibu i had with a 200 V6 it sounded like a V8 at a idle, I also think it sounded good going down the road for what it was. Then when i put a 350 in it the exhaust was already there.

Dynomax makes a system for the Monte Carlo SS with one pipe from the cat to the muffler that splits out to duals out the rear.

A six will probably sound best with a single muffler.
