Drove it to work and came home and changed the oil, and keep asking myself why I haven't put an overdrive trans in.

There isn't really a major difference between a good auto & manual trans....
TKO500 - $2k
700R4 - $1500-$2500 depending on builder, what you choose for the trans, etc.

My trans guy builds 200-4rs well for cheep. For my application (est.11.50s) its going to cost a tick under $1k. My buddy has one of his units in a heavier car going mid 10s, spent $1.5k through him.

A lot of the cost associated with od units is that they build them 'to the gills', whereas not everyone needs a billet input shaft of drum. Theres a lot of cost savings if you are realistic and honest about what the car will be doing and talk to someone who will build an od unit for you from scratch, rather than dealing with a company that has to sell you that $2000 best case senario unit to reduce failure rates.

Additionally my trans guy uses stock overdrive parts to reduce cost, which is not something a lot of the named shops do. Unless youre racing in overdrive, you dont need it.

If anyone is interested in learning more you can PM me, so I dont step on any sponsors toes.

Buuuut....not to be off topic, Im finishing assembling the 350 Im selling, to fund the engine for the malibu, today.

Put another patch on the pass floor pan, I have some pics going in my thread. I'll wait till the paint cures to put the seat brace piece back in and the passenger side bucket seat mounts. Then I still have the drivers side pan to repair. So glad I have a lift.

Sold the last of my Chevelle parts to finance a 200 4r

Probably going to get that sometime this weekend. Hopefully I have enough left to grab a crossmember.
