If it's original & it's in a Regal, it's neither. Other than the Chevy 305 the only V8s it could be are the 265 or 301 Poncho or a 307 Olds. :p

I am not sure about the 403 but the 455 have letters on the heads where the 350 have numbers. I know pontiac has the CI on the block and for some reason I think the olds do also. Look on the bottom of the block near the front.

I'm gonna guess 400,425 or 455. Just guessing by the red engine color and toronado intake manifold. Intake plenum is lower than the top of the port entry in the heads. Either way, if it's even in decent shape will be one tire smokin' mother. Easy way to tell if it's a big block or small block, on the passenger side, just under the heater hose, there will be a letter on the outer edge of the head, probably a C or E, and if it's a small block, it will be a number. If it happens to be an F or H, I'll give you $250 for them ;)

The 425 came in toronados, and the big cars. The lower profile intake means toro. It should also have a larger sump on the oil pan.

it looks like a toro 425 the dead give away for the 425 was the A or B heads also the 4brl high compression motors were painted red/orange,there is good and bad with the 425's(I know i have one) the good massive torque good hp(for the 4brl high compression) rated at 385 from the toro 375from the starfire's,forged steel crank yup you heard that right steel crank from the factory, now for the bad the 425 came in two different lifter angle's and two different lifter diameters witch making cam selection kind of scarce and lifters for the big diameter .9375 or expensive when you can find them, also the 67 and down olds pattern on the flexplate is different than the 68 and up so you can't use a 455 flexplate or flywheel for that matter and last but not least the olds center exhaust port divider does not run all the way to the manifold/header mating surface if your an olds fan they are all like this and can be welded up with some degree of sucess , so in a nutshell the 425 is a great motor and will be a ball in a gbody configuration.so here is some great reading material for you http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/ofeng.htm#Engines and don't forget about realoldspower.com lots of good info and great people to get information from.
