Other than already owning the 200r4, why not a 4l60e?

Well, the $2500 I just paid for the trans and all the other stuff for the swap is reason enough for me. I'll probably start off with a carb, then try the FI later. I googled the TV cable every which way but couldn't find anyone who has done it. I don't want to pave new ground as I want this to be a quick swap, I learned from the Cutlass the consequences of a long drawn out mod. If I can find detailed info on it, or better yet someone makes the necessary aftermarket parts then I may change my mind. Plus I didn't buy a drop out, so don't have any of the FI stuff presently, so that's more money when I'm already at $5500 in the drivetrain with a good bit more to go.

Sounds to me like someone is going EFI

I see your point though...get it in, get it running...easier to swap to EFI later than it is now and have more downtime/more problems to sort out.

I can see where the carb is attractive. I seriously considered going the carb route because it would have been SO much easier not having to deal with a new fuel system and PCM, wiring, etc. But, I wanted to get my feet wet in the EFI stuff so I would feel more comfortable for a possible future project for myself (turbo). :twisted:

I don't understand why everyone takes technology (Gen III/IV engines) and back-dates them with a carb!

has been shown they make more power carbed...

maybe over 6500 due to the FI intakes cant flow as much as the straight runners on the 4bbl intake. Under 6500 I would say the FI outperforms a carb, better TQ, mpg....

Well, the main attraction for me was the simplicity. I drive this car maybe once a week, 2-3 times if there's really good weather. So the mpg benifits, tq, don't greatly impact my enjoyment of the car, neither does a few more unfelt hp. Then why do a swap at all? Well it's my hobbey and it's fun to a point. The time & effort to jumping into an LS swap plus learning FI and the computer tuning may take the fun out. If I get the LS swap behind me, start to get my feet wet with the other tech and when I'm ready to I'll tackle that, I think I'll have more fun with the car.

Sounds like what I did, I went with the carb at first, easy to swap. Drove it for the summer then used the winter to change over to FI. Sold all the carb stuff and had way more $$ to buy all the fuel injection parts.
