    Headers Recommendations?

Well... We had to make a slight dent in the primary closest to the upper control arm ear on the passenger side, no big deal. Then, we had to MAJORLY reshape the primary closest to the frame rail. We took a propane torch and a huge prybar and made it fit. Honestly I wouldn't be suprised if the...

Anyone with TH350 driveshaft w/ 8.5 rear end?

Alright cool thanks guy. We were going to get it shortened 1-1/2" but the shaft was way out of balance so they built us a new one to the stock length minus 1-1/2" and we checked the angles to make sure there will be a good amount of yoke in the trans and it will be perfectly fine.

    Started my swap!

Awesome! I'd love to have a wagon with an LS in it for a daily. Bet that hurt when he got a face full of gas though

Anyone with TH350 driveshaft w/ 8.5 rear end?

See that's where I'm a little confused. My dad looked at it and said it needs to be shortened two inches and even though it's a long slip yoke I'd like to make sure I don't do this wrong. It's just barely doesn't fit into the pinion yoke by about half an inch and that's with the slip yoke all...

Anyone with TH350 driveshaft w/ 8.5 rear end?

Just wondering how much had to be taken out of the driveshaft. I bought what was thought to be a driveshaft for a GN but it's the same as the one that's on the car right now.

    Cluster Swap

Well I was going to go outside and take another crack at it but the guy giving me the gauges brought them to school today so now I have the 4 gauges, 6k tach, and a 115 speedo woohoo. He didn't know that i needed the back part with the circuit board too so he'll bring that tomorrow and hopefully...

    Cluster Swap

Oh wow the center 3 blank gauges don't even light up then? Hmm this is a little more tricky than I thought. We did start the car and one light went on and then off, assuming it's the seat belt light but we didn't have the outer bezel for the cluster on so maybe I'll have to hold it up in the...

    Cluster Swap

Awesome that did help out. Yes I went from a long speedo to the circle one. I just wanted to toss the cluster in there because to me it would make sense that the round speedo clusters regardless of the accessory gauges or idiot lights would be the same. When we got the car the alternator...

    Cluster Swap

Yeah went from 79 Malibu to 87 Monte idiot lights, the printout on the back of the clusters didn't match up so I assumed I had to switch them. Was I even supposed to? Maybe that could be my whole problem.

GM Techs/TSB knowledgeable), '04 Buick Rendezvous cluster

Certain features of the newer GM cars will act goofy if the battery isn't at a high enough voltage. I've seen airbag lights come on brand new cars because the battery died

    Cluster Swap

And I did forget to say, I DO have a set of aftermarket mechanical gauges for volts, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. But I do realize that since the two sending units are gone that's probably why the two lights don't come on. But I'm still stuck on the alternator and choke lights.

    Cluster Swap

Hey all, picked up an 87' Monte LS cluster with speedo, fuel gauge, three dummy lights and the MC logo in the tach's spot. I switched all the pins around for the connector on the back side, but I'm only getting the seatbelt light and the turn signals, but I'm not getting the choke, voltmeter...

    5.3 v. 6.0 couple quick q's

The differences in the 5.3 vs the 6.0 is just the bore. Just think of the LS1/LS6 family like the SBC family. The differences in LQ4 and LQ9 are the pistons so if you are planning to rebuild and stretch out the cylinders, get whichever is cheaper. I don't know how well they fit but the truck...

    Good streetable 8.5 posi unit

Jim thanks a ton! I surfed your site right before I bought the rear end and it's really a very informative site. Funds are tight right now and with the union contract ending soon I'm not buying anything until I find out what the new contract is. But I'll definately let you know what I'll be...

    Mild cam for stock engine

Well tomorrow I'll drain the oil and take a look at what it looks like. My motivation on the car right now is rock bottom. Me and my dad are thinking that the carb is leaking into the intake and down to the crankcase and the lifters went south on us. I might as well take the intake off seeing as...

    Good streetable 8.5 posi unit

Alright great thanks for the reply. I'll just go with the first instinct and buy a Detroic Trutrac for the stock spline axles from this rear. The axles from 8.5" G-bodies are 28 spline correct?
