Stock type GM bellhoushing not a Gbody or early Nova. It is the one that goes over the steering shaft. I had to cut the tube in the middle of the bend and cut some off of it. The modified one is on top.
I tried the gbody fork in a non gbody bellhousing. I couldn't get it to work. My car has had a regular GM style bellhousing and a regular GM fork with the floor dented for going on 18 years.
I took it out today and removed the shifter. The shifter was made in two pieces a flat base that bolts to the transmission and a round part with the actual shifter that bolts to the the flat base part with 4 bolts. 3 of the 4 bolts had feel out and wedged between the shifter rail and the trans...
I've had a TKO 600 in My Malibu for a few years. It has just started to not want to go in any of the gears on the front of the shifter so no 1st,3rd or 5th. It wont go in even if the engine isn't running. Sometimes if you pat the gas and jerk the car in 2nd or 4th it will free up the shifter and...
The Malibu's take a clutch fork that has a bend in it not like a regular chevy one. The bellhousing is odd ball to. I use a regular fork and bellhousing in My car I just dented the floor to get it to clear.
I've had both the T56 and the TKO600. The T56 didn't shift as good the stock shifter was horrible at best(06 GTO) I put a Hurst on it It shifter better but still not good it also rattled. I think alot of the T56 shifters rattle for some reason. The TKO600 in My Malibu shifts great and the...
If the rear gears are 3.50's then the .64 OD maybe to high. My car has 4.10s and 2200 is about 70MPH with a 255/60 rear tire. I have a regular GM bellhousing not the weird Malibu type. I have the big flywheel. I ordered My TKO with the shifter the same as what My Muncie was which wasn't stock.
Aluminum rad., manual fan, aluminum waterpump. It needs to have a fan shroud. If they don't run hot in a dirt track car then it shouldn't in a street car.
60 over is fine I've used a bunch of 400's that were 60 over never had any problems with over heating. Check the crank with a caliper or take if to a machine shop and let them check it.
Here are some pics. The best I can remember You just need to shorten the tube were it goes into the header and tighten up the radius of the bend. The one on My car has been cut in the middle of the bend and welded back together.
Modified tube on top stock on bottom.
