So my truck has a 3.08 rear. I've come across a Craigslist '88 rear with lower miles (81k vs. 245k) and 3.73 gears, and the exterior is in better shape (western truck vs. Michigan truck). The plan would be to use the '88 housing, leaving the gears alone for backlash reasons. My question is...

With the shape of those rods it may not require as much. The SCAT Pro-Comp rods have a little more room for strokers, where I have the Pro-Stock, which had to be clearanced for. Also, I measured all the journals on my crank and rods before install, and everything was dead on or within .0005".

Yeah I'd say that's a good price, hard to say about the rods since they say "our" rods in the ad, but everything else looks good. I have the same crank in my 383, and that's not the first time I've heard of the eBay vendor.

Is it the same engine as when you bought it from appsk8r? I just saw a post from him recently, he may be able to tell you what it has. If that cam you're looking at is the XR288 cam, AFR actually lists a dyno near 500hp on a 9.5:1 383 with their 190cc Vortecs on the website.

85 and 86 are only the trigger, they do not carry any type of load... I'm not 100% sure that's what you mean though. 30 connects to either 87 or 87a, depending on if the relay is energized or not. If the relay has a layout of the terminals, it should show you which terminals are connected with...
