    4L60E for a Malibu

You can build it to handle 500hp, especially in a ~3300lb. car. I'm not sure why you were recommended an e trans over a 700R4, they're very similar, unless the e trans had some updates over the 700 (besides electronic control).

    11" rotor...

Herm... I looked up an '81 Malibu rotor on Autozone and it came out 266.7mm, which equals 10.5". http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Duralast-Brake-Rotor-Front/1981-Chevrolet-Malibu/_/N-ilipdZ8knrq?itemIdentifier=210807_172993_4825_ I also pulled up the rotor on RockAuto for an '87 Camaro...

    C207 connector under dash?

Bam! This is why I'm always raving about Bob and the EBL... awesome service, even with unrelated questions to the customer. Sounds like you're using the diagram from a Camaro? Stock TBI will definitely be very short on fueling... it will have to be tuned for that 90hp difference (considering...

    "Bedding" the brakes

Has anyone else heard of/done this? I've read about it (basically working the friction material from the brake pads/shoes into the rotors/drums), and have only done it once. Is it one of those must-do processes? I did it in the last set of pads/rotors I did but I don't know how much of a...

    Fast idle relay

I'm not 100% sure it grounds through the ECM, not really sure how the "ECM" works with the carbs though. My thought is since it's just a carb, wiring may be related to the A/C wiring - i.e. soon as the pressure switch drops enough for the compressor clutch to engage, it also kicks up the idle.

    C207 connector under dash?

Having trouble picturing the connector, but I can't imagine a serious drawback... wiring will depend on what all you use, you could probably add the coolant fan wire for an ECM-controlled radiator fan, the emission/cold start I wouldn't be too concerned about (never seen anything extra for 'cold...

What did U do to your G-body today??

I got how the alternator worked, had to do the same with mine, luckily the dummy light in mine works.... I just couldn't tell what that was from the pic :)

What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Narrowed/tucked bumpers.... not sure on chrome or monochromatic. Painted/powdercoated trim/front trim Paint to match handles (if a flush mount, full size 88-98 GM trucks are nice & rectangular) Make room for wider wheels up front (8" is the widest without more backspacing, which would cause...

    Hard brake pedal

I'll guess either a sticking issue in the rear, or mismatched volume issue.

    Wheel size for my malibu

8" should be safe, any wider will stick out with stock suspension/rotors. 235 should be ok too, 45 series will put the tires around 26.5", not sure if there will be an issue there, if anything probably the fenderwells at stock height, may have issues with fender lips if it's lowered.

    alignment shims

Depends on ride height, arms, etc. My '81 only had a couple each side. Also, front/rear shim count also sets caster.

    alignment shims

You need to actually measure, or at least use a level. Cut a piece of 2x4, etc. to fit in the lips of the wheel itself, then check with a level. It won't be perfect, but it will keep your tires from destroying themselves prematurely.

    4L60E for a Malibu

A 700R4 is mechanically the same as a 4L60E, the difference is like you said, electronic instead of a TV cable. You can run a GM TBI 4L60E controller, if I remember right you need a tach, TPS, CTS (coolant temperature) and VSS signal for it all to work properly...

    383 Stroker Kit

I've heard 500hp range, but I'm not 100% sure. I believe internal balance is better, less off-center weight spinning at the crank ends.
